About Red Amick
Red Amick, an American driver born in 1929, made two World Championship starts, in 1959 and 1960. Both came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960, placing him in the final years of that unusual arrangement.
He drove a Kurtis Kraft in 1959 and an Epperly in 1960, two of the oval-racing chassis marques that dominated American entries of the period. Neither start brought points, and with the Indianapolis 500 leaving the championship calendar after 1960, his two appearances closed out his Formula 1 record.
