About Colin Davis

Colin Davis, a British driver born in 1933, made three World Championship Grand Prix starts across two widely spaced seasons. He debuted in 1959 at the age of twenty-six at the wheel of a Cooper-Maserati, then returned three years later, in 1962, driving for Porsche.

Neither campaign yielded championship points, and his Formula 1 record closed after those three appearances. The three-year interval between his two seasons meant that his brief career straddled a period of rapid change in Grand Prix design, from the front-engined cars still common at his 1959 debut to the rear-engined era in which his Porsche outings took place.

Davis's split career, divided between British-Italian and German machinery, was typical of the era's part-time entries, when drivers could appear in the championship intermittently without committing to a full season.
