Nelson Piquet Jr.

Nelson Piquet Jr., a Brazilian driver born in 1985, competed in Formula 1 with Renault across the 2008 and 2009 seasons, making 28 starts in all. He arrived in the championship at 22 and spent his entire Formula 1 career with the French manufacturer.

His rookie season in 2008 was clearly his stronger year: he scored 19 points, took his sole podium finish, and was classified twelfth in the drivers' championship. Under the points system of the era, which rewarded only the top eight finishers, that tally represented a series of solid results.

The 2009 campaign proved far less productive. Piquet Jr. failed to add to his points total and slipped to 21st in the standings before his time with the team came to an end. His final career record shows one podium and 19 points, all earned in that first season.

A two-season Formula 1 career with a single team, bookended by a promising debut year and a difficult follow-up, remains his complete record at this level.
