Syd van der Vyver

Syd van der Vyver, a South African driver born in 1920, made one World Championship start, entering a Lotus-Climax in 1962. He was 42 years old at the time, making him one of the older debutants of the period.

The appearance brought no points and no classified championship position, and it remained his sole outing at Formula 1's top level, a single-event career in a single season.
