Carlo Abate

Carlo Abate, an Italian driver born in 1932, entered two World Championship Grands Prix, one in 1962 and one in 1963. His first appearance came at the wheel of a Lotus-Climax, and he returned the following year driving for Porsche.

Neither outing brought points, and his Formula 1 record closed after those two starts. Making his championship debut at around thirty years of age, Abate's brief spell at the top level spanned two seasons with two different marques, a pattern common among the many drivers who sampled Grand Prix racing in the early 1960s without securing a regular seat.
