Zsolt Baumgartner

Zsolt Baumgartner, a Hungarian driver born in 1981, competed in Formula 1 in 2003 and 2004, making twenty starts across the two seasons. He entered the championship with Jordan in 2003, at around 22 years of age.

His debut campaign with Jordan brought no points and a twenty-fourth-place classification in the standings. For 2004 he moved to Minardi for a full season with the Italian backmarker team.

The switch paid off with a single championship point in 2004, which lifted him to twentieth in that year's Drivers' Championship. For a Minardi driver of that era, when the team habitually occupied the last row of the grid, a points finish was a rare and significant result.

Baumgartner's Formula 1 career ended after that season, closing a brief two-year, two-team stint at the top level with one point to his name — a modest total on paper, but one earned in some of the least competitive machinery in the field.
