About Sébastien Bourdais
Sébastien Bourdais, a French driver born in 1979, raced in Formula 1 for Toro Rosso during the 2008 and 2009 seasons, starting 27 Grands Prix. He came to the World Championship at twenty-nine, an older debut age than most of his contemporaries.
His first season in 2008 was his stronger, yielding four points and seventeenth place in the drivers' championship at a time when only the top eight finishers scored. Points were hard-won for the Faenza-based team that year, making each of his scoring finishes a notable result.
The 2009 campaign proved less productive, bringing two points and nineteenth in the standings before his time with the team came to an end. His Formula 1 record closed at six points from 27 starts, all of them with Toro Rosso.
Bourdais's championship career was confined to those two seasons with a single team, a compact spell in the sport for a driver who arrived with his best years of experience already behind him in other categories of racing.
