About Eugène Chaboud
Eugène Chaboud, a French driver born in 1907, took part in the first two seasons of the Formula 1 World Championship, making three starts for Talbot-Lago in 1950 and 1951. He was already 43 years old when the championship began, one of the generation of pre-war racers who filled the early grids.
In the inaugural 1950 season Chaboud scored a championship point, enough to classify him twentieth in the standings — no small feat at a time when only the leading finishers scored.
His 1951 appearances brought no further points, and his World Championship record closed at three starts and one point, all achieved with the French Talbot-Lago marque.
