Azdrubal Fontes

Azdrubal Fontes, a Uruguayan driver born in 1922, made a single World Championship start, which came in 1959 at the wheel of a Maserati, when he was in his mid-thirties.

The outing brought no championship points and proved to be his only appearance at this level. Brief as it was, his start gave Uruguay a place in the Formula 1 record books during the closing years of the sport's first decade.
