Jo Gartner

Jo Gartner, an Austrian driver born in 1954, competed in the Formula 1 World Championship during the 1984 season. All eight of his Grand Prix starts came with the small Italian Osella team, which he joined at the age of thirty.

Osella was one of the sport's perennial backmarkers in the mid-1980s, and Gartner's season brought no championship points; he went unclassified in the final standings. His statistics show no podiums, poles or fastest laps from his eight outings.

That single campaign in 1984 proved to be the extent of Gartner's World Championship career, making him one of a number of drivers of the era whose Formula 1 involvement was confined to a lone season with an underfunded team.
