Andrea Montermini

Andrea Montermini, an Italian driver born in 1964, made twenty-three Formula 1 starts between 1994 and 1996, racing for three of the smallest teams of the era: Simtek in 1994, Pacific in 1995 and Forti in 1996.

All three operations occupied the back of the grid, and Montermini's three seasons passed without a championship point, pole position or podium. He went unclassified in the standings each year.

His career pattern — one season apiece with three short-lived constructors — reflects the precarious world of Formula 1's backmarker teams in the mid-1990s, where drivers and teams alike often survived only a single campaign together.

Twenty-three starts over three seasons nonetheless represent a sustained presence on the Grand Prix grid, achieved entirely in machinery that gave little opportunity for results.
