About Oscar Piastri
Oscar Piastri is an Australian racing driver competing for McLaren in Formula 1. Born in Melbourne in 2001, he is one of the most decorated juniors of the modern era, winning the Formula Renault Eurocup, the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2020 and the Formula 2 Championship in 2021, all in his rookie seasons. After a year as Alpine's reserve, he joined McLaren for his grand prix debut in 2023.
Piastri made an immediate impact, scoring his first podiums and a sprint win in his rookie year before breaking through to victory in 2024 at the Hungarian and Azerbaijan Grands Prix. In 2025 he emerged as a championship contender in his own right, winning seven races and finishing third overall as McLaren swept to the front, with team-mate Lando Norris taking the drivers' crown.
In 2026 Piastri continues at McLaren alongside Norris. After nine rounds he sits sixth in the championship on 82 points, just behind his team-mate, as the pair lead McLaren's charge against the front-running Mercedes and Ferrari squads.
