Eddie Sachs

Eddie Sachs was an American driver born in 1927 who made four World Championship starts between 1957 and 1960. His appearances all came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960, placing him among the oval-racing specialists credited with Grand Prix statistics from that era.

He drove Kuzma chassis for his first three starts, from 1957 to 1959, before switching to an Ewing for 1960. That final season brought the standout entry in his record: a pole position, a rare distinction among drivers who never scored a championship point.

His four starts yielded no points or podiums, but the single pole ensures his line in the record books reads differently from those of most of his non-scoring contemporaries.
