About Shorty Templeman
Shorty Templeman, an American driver born in 1919, made three World Championship starts spread across the second half of the 1950s. As an American oval racer, his championship appearances came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960.
He first started in 1955 driving a Trevis, then returned in 1958 and again in 1960 with Kurtis Kraft chassis. His three starts came in non-consecutive seasons over a six-year span, and none produced championship points.
Templeman's final appearance in 1960 coincided with the last year the Indianapolis 500 formed part of the World Championship calendar.
