Alex Yoong

Alex Yoong, a Malaysian driver born in 1976, competed in Formula 1 with Minardi across the 2001 and 2002 seasons, making fifteen World Championship starts. He joined the team late in 2001 at the age of 25 before contesting a fuller campaign in 2002.

Minardi occupied the rear of the grid throughout his tenure, and his two seasons brought no points; he was classified twentieth in the 2002 World Championship.

In an era when only the top six finishers scored, drivers in the field's slowest cars had little realistic route to points, and Yoong's record reflects the limits of his equipment as much as anything else.

His Formula 1 career ended after 2002 with fifteen starts across two seasons, all of them with the small Italian team.
