Peter Arundell

Peter Arundell, a British driver born in 1933, made 15 World Championship starts between 1962 and 1966, all in Lotus machinery of one form or another. He appeared for Team Lotus in 1962, drove a Lotus-Climax in 1963 and 1964, and closed his career in a Lotus-BRM in 1966.

The 1964 season was comfortably his best. He scored eleven points and finished ninth in the championship, and his two career podium finishes underline how competitive that campaign was. Under the scoring system of the day, such results placed him regularly among the leading finishers.

His career then took an abrupt pause: he was absent from the 1965 season entirely, and his return in 1966 with the Lotus-BRM yielded a single point and seventeenth in the standings before his Formula 1 record closed.

Twelve points, two podiums, and a career built entirely around the Lotus marque make Arundell's a short but distinctly shaped record, with one strong season at its centre.
