The 1966 Season
The 'return to power' arrived as the new 3.0-litre formula doubled engine capacity, and Jack Brabham seized the moment to become the only man to win the world championship in a car bearing his own name. Driving his Brabham-Repco, he won four races in a row to take a historic third title.
Brabham's own marque also claimed the Constructors' Championship, a unique double for a driver-constructor. Many teams struggled to find reliable 3.0-litre engines, and Brabham's pragmatic, well-prepared package proved perfectly suited to the new era.
