Skip Barber

Skip Barber, an American driver born in 1936, competed in Formula 1 across the 1971 and 1972 seasons, making five starts in total. He campaigned March machinery throughout, running a March-Ford in 1971 before continuing with the marque the following year.

Barber did not score championship points in either season and was unclassified in the final standings both times, a typical fate for privateer entrants of the period running against the established works teams.

Having made his debut at around 34 years of age, his Formula 1 involvement was brief — two seasons and five Grands Prix — but it placed him among the small group of Americans racing in the World Championship in the early 1970s.
