The 1971 Season
Jackie Stewart and Tyrrell utterly dominated 1971, the Scot taking six victories on his way to a comfortable second drivers' title. Tyrrell, in only its second season as a constructor, claimed the constructors' championship as well.
Stewart's blend of speed and smoothness left rivals such as Ferrari's Ickx and BRM's drivers struggling to respond. The season cemented Stewart and designer Derek Gardner's partnership as the benchmark of the early 1970s.
