About Paolo Barilla
Paolo Barilla, an Italian driver born in 1961, made nine Formula 1 starts for Minardi across the 1989 and 1990 seasons. His entire World Championship career was spent with the small Faenza-based team.
Barilla did not score championship points in either season and went unclassified in the standings both years. Minardi's cars of that era rarely troubled the points positions, and under the top-six scoring system of the time even a single point was hard-won for teams at that end of the grid.
His stint amounted to a season and a half at the highest level: a brief appearance in 1989 followed by a fuller campaign in 1990, after which his Formula 1 career came to a close before his thirtieth birthday.
