Eitel Cantoni

Eitel Cantoni, a Uruguayan driver born in 1906, made three World Championship starts, all during the 1952 season at the wheel of a Maserati. He was forty-five years old at the time of his championship debut.

His three outings brought no points, and his Formula 1 record is confined to that single year, when the championship was run to Formula 2 regulations and privateer Maseratis were a fixture of the entry lists.

Cantoni remains one of the very few Uruguayan drivers ever to have started a World Championship Grand Prix, his appearances coming amid the strong South American presence in European racing during the early 1950s.
