Paddy Driver

Paddy Driver, a South African driver born in 1934, made two World Championship Grand Prix starts separated by a remarkable eleven-year gap. His first appearance came in 1963 in a Lotus-BRM, at the age of twenty-nine; his second and final start did not arrive until 1974, with Team Lotus, when he was in his fortieth year. Neither outing yielded championship points, but the span between his two races — among the longer interruptions in any Formula 1 career — makes his brief record a curiosity of the sport's history.
