The 1974 Season
Emerson Fittipaldi won his second drivers' title in 1974, this time with McLaren after switching from Lotus, edging Ferrari's Clay Regazzoni in a close finish at the United States Grand Prix. McLaren claimed its first constructors' championship.
The season marked the arrival of Niki Lauda at Ferrari, where the Austrian began rebuilding the Scuderia into a force again. A competitive, multi-team battle made 1974 one of the most open seasons of the decade.
