Jules Bianchi

Jules Bianchi, a French driver born in 1989, competed in Formula 1 in 2013 and 2014, making thirty-four Grand Prix starts for the Marussia team. He made his debut at the age of twenty-three.

His rookie campaign brought no points, but he was classified nineteenth in the drivers' standings, ahead of where Marussia's modest machinery might have been expected to place him. The small Anglo-Russian team spent those seasons battling at the rear of the grid.

In 2014 Bianchi scored two championship points, an exceptional result for a car of Marussia's pace and enough to lift him to seventeenth in the final standings. Those were the only points the team scored during his time there, and they made his season one of the most notable achievements among backmarker drivers of the period.

His Formula 1 record closed at the end of that 2014 season, with two points from thirty-four starts, all of them earned in one of the least competitive cars in the field.
