Narain Karthikeyan

Narain Karthikeyan, an Indian driver born in 1977, competed in Formula 1 across three seasons spread over eight years, making forty-six Grand Prix starts in total. His career divided into two distinct chapters separated by a five-year absence.

He made his debut in 2005 with Jordan at the age of twenty-eight, and that rookie campaign proved his most productive: five championship points and eighteenth place in the drivers' standings. All of his career points date from that single season.

Karthikeyan returned to the grid in 2011 with the Spanish HRT team, one of the newest and least competitive outfits of the era, and stayed for 2012. Neither year brought points; he was classified twenty-sixth and twenty-fourth in the respective championships.

His Formula 1 career concluded at the end of 2012, with a record of forty-six starts, five points, and the unusual shape of a career interrupted midway by a lengthy gap between his Jordan and HRT chapters.
