About Ernst Klodwig
Ernst Klodwig, an East German driver born in 1903, made two World Championship starts, in 1952 and 1953, driving BMW-based machinery. Approaching fifty at the time of his appearances, he was among the oldest drivers to start a Grand Prix in the championship's early years.
Both of his outings came during the seasons when German entrants fielded a variety of home-built cars, and neither brought championship points. Those two starts constitute his complete Formula 1 record.
