Jyrki Järvilehto

Jyrki Järvilehto, a Finnish driver born in 1966, competed in Formula 1 from 1989 to 1994, making 62 starts for four teams and scoring ten championship points with one podium finish.

His career began at the back of the grid with Onyx in 1989 and 1990. A move to Dallara for 1991 brought his breakthrough: four points and twelfth in the drivers' championship, though a second Dallara season in 1992 went unrewarded.

He joined the new Sauber team for its debut year in 1993 and scored five points, finishing thirteenth in the standings, his most productive season by points. That earned him a seat at Benetton for 1994, but the year yielded only a single point and 24th in the championship, and it proved his last in the sport.

Six seasons, four teams and a steady climb from backmarkers to a front-running seat give his career a clear arc, even if the final chapter did not deliver the results the progression promised.
