About Ernie McCoy
Ernie McCoy, an American driver born in 1921, made two World Championship starts, in 1953 and 1954. As with most American drivers of the decade, his appearances came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960.
He drove a Stevens chassis in 1953 and a Kurtis Kraft the following year, scoring no championship points in either outing. His two starts, with two of the American oval-racing constructors of the period, complete his Formula 1 record.
