John Miles

John Miles, a British driver born in 1943, made thirteen Formula 1 starts across the 1969 and 1970 seasons, racing exclusively for the Lotus organisation in its Lotus-Ford and Team Lotus guises.

His debut season in 1969 passed without points, but 1970 brought his breakthrough: two championship points with Team Lotus, enough for nineteenth place in the final standings under a scoring system that rewarded only the top six finishers.

Miles's entire World Championship career was contained within those two years with a single team. Two points from thirteen starts is a modest tally on paper, yet any points finish in that era represented a top-six result against full works opposition.
