Hap Sharp

Hap Sharp, an American driver born in 1928, made six Formula 1 World Championship starts spread over four consecutive seasons from 1961 to 1964. He debuted at thirty-three, appearing in a Cooper-Climax in his first two campaigns.

His later entries came in different machinery, a Lotus-BRM in 1963 and a Brabham-BRM in 1964, reflecting the pattern of a privateer taking starts in whatever competitive equipment could be arranged rather than holding a full-time works seat.

None of the six starts yielded championship points, and Sharp was never classified in the drivers' standings, his Formula 1 involvement remaining an occasional sideline across those four seasons of the early 1960s.
