Scott Speed

Scott Speed, an American driver born in 1983, competed in Formula 1 in 2006 and 2007, making twenty-eight World Championship starts, all for Toro Rosso. He debuted at twenty-three, becoming one of the few American drivers on the grid in that era.

His rookie season in 2006 ended without points, and he was classified twentieth in the championship. The 2007 campaign followed a similar course, though it ended early: he was classified twenty-first and left the team partway through the year, which closed his Formula 1 career.

In a period when points were awarded only to the top eight finishers, Toro Rosso rarely put its drivers in reach of the scoring positions, and Speed's final record reads twenty-eight starts and no points across his two seasons with the Italian-based team.
