Toranosuke Takagi

Toranosuke Takagi, a Japanese driver born in 1974, competed in Formula 1 across the 1998 and 1999 seasons, accumulating thirty-two starts in a brief but busy Grand Prix career. He arrived in the championship at the age of twenty-four.

His debut season came with Tyrrell in 1998, the team's final years as a fixture of the grid, and he contested the full campaign without scoring a championship point. For 1999 he moved to Arrows, but the change of team did not alter his fortunes: a second full season again ended without points.

Takagi's final tally of zero points from thirty-two starts owed much to the machinery at his disposal, as both Tyrrell and Arrows were battling at the back of the field during his two years in the sport. He recorded no podiums, poles or fastest laps.

His Formula 1 career was confined to those two consecutive seasons, making him one of a number of Japanese drivers of the late 1990s whose time in the championship proved short-lived.
