About Arrows
Arrows was one of Formula 1's great triers, a British team that competed for a quarter of a century and started hundreds of Grands Prix without ever quite reaching the top step of the podium, making it famous as the sport's nearly team.
Founded in 1977 by a group that included Tony Southgate and Jackie Oliver, Arrows came agonisingly close to victory on several occasions, most famously when Riccardo Patrese led much of the 1978 South African Grand Prix before retiring. The team endured countless ownership and sponsorship changes and gave many drivers their chance, including a young Damon Hill.
Despite its resilience, Arrows never won a race and finally folded in 2002, its long run ending without the victory it had chased for so long.
