Eric Thompson

Eric Thompson, a British driver born in 1919, made a single Formula 1 World Championship start, driving for Connaught in 1952. Remarkably, that lone appearance produced two championship points, enough to place him twenty-first in the final standings.

Scoring on a one-and-only Grand Prix start was a rare feat under the scoring system of the day, which rewarded only the top finishers, and it gave Thompson a perfect record of points scored in every World Championship race he started. His brief involvement came with Connaught, the small British constructor that gave several home drivers their championship opportunities in the early 1950s.
