About Jack Turner

Jack Turner, an American driver born in 1920, made four World Championship starts in consecutive seasons from 1956 to 1959. His appearances came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960.

He drove Kurtis Kraft chassis in 1956 and 1957, switched to a Lesovsky in 1958, and made his final start in a Christensen in 1959. None of the four outings brought championship points.

Turner's four-year run with three different American chassis builders reflects the fluid nature of ride assignments in oval racing of the period, when drivers frequently changed equipment from one year to the next.
