Johnny Boyd

Johnny Boyd, an American driver born in 1926, appears in the Formula 1 World Championship record through the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the championship from 1950 to 1960. He made six starts between 1955 and 1960, driving Kurtis Kraft and Epperly machinery.

His best year was 1958, when a podium finish in the Kurtis Kraft earned him four points and sixteenth place in the World Championship standings — his only points-scoring season. That podium remains the standout entry in his championship record.

Boyd's first four appearances came with Kurtis Kraft from 1955 to 1958, before he switched to Epperly cars for his final two entries in 1959 and 1960. Like many American oval-racing specialists of the decade, his World Championship statistics reflect a career centred on Indianapolis rather than the European Grand Prix circuit.
