Mark Donohue

Mark Donohue, an American driver born in 1937, made fifteen Formula 1 starts spread across three seasons between 1971 and 1975, scoring eight World Championship points and one podium finish. Unusually, his Grand Prix debut season was immediately productive: driving a McLaren in 1971, he took four points and sixteenth place in the championship at the age of thirty-four.

Donohue's Formula 1 career was closely bound to the Penske organisation. After a three-year gap in his championship record, he reappeared in 1974 driving for Penske, the American team then establishing itself in Grand Prix racing, and stayed with the outfit into 1975. His record also lists March among the constructors he drove for.

That final season brought his second points haul — four more, for fifteenth in the standings — matching his debut-year total exactly and rounding out a career record of eight points from fifteen starts.
