About Marc Gené

Marc Gené, a Spanish driver born in 1974, made thirty-six Formula 1 starts between 1999 and 2004, his career dividing neatly into two chapters: two full seasons with Minardi followed, after a gap, by appearances for Williams.

He debuted with Minardi in 1999 at the age of twenty-five and scored a point that year — a genuinely strong result for the perennially underfunded Italian team under the scoring system of the day — to be classified seventeenth in the championship. His second Minardi season, in 2000, passed without a score.

After two years away from race seats, Gené resurfaced at Williams in 2003, where he scored four points and again finished seventeenth in the standings. He remained with the British team into 2004, though that campaign brought no further points and twenty-third place in the classification.

His career total of five points, gathered at opposite ends of the grid's competitive spectrum, tells the story of a driver who extracted a point from one of the field's weakest cars and later served one of its strongest teams in a supporting role.
