Timo Glock

Timo Glock, a German driver born in 1982, made ninety-five Formula 1 starts in a career of two distinct halves, beginning with a handful of races for Jordan in 2004 and running through to 2012 with Toyota, Virgin and Marussia.

His debut season brought two points for Jordan at the age of twenty-two, after which he spent three years away from the grid. He returned in 2008 with Toyota, and his two seasons with the Japanese manufacturer were the high point of his career: twenty-five points and tenth in the championship in 2008, followed by twenty-four points and tenth again in 2009. All three of his podium finishes and his single fastest lap date from this period of his career.

When Toyota's programme ended, Glock moved to the new Virgin team for 2010 and 2011, then to its successor Marussia in 2012. Those three seasons at the back of the grid brought no points, with final classifications of twenty-fifth, twenty-fifth and twentieth.

His career closed with fifty-one points, three podiums and back-to-back top-ten championship finishes — a record built almost entirely in his Toyota years, bracketed by spells in far less competitive machinery.
