Al Herman

Al Herman, an American driver born in 1927, made five World Championship starts between 1955 and 1960, all at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960.

He drove Kurtis Kraft chassis in 1955 and 1956, switched to Dunn machinery for 1957 and 1959, and made his final appearance in an Ewing in 1960.

Herman scored no championship points across his five starts, but his six-season span of appearances reflects a durable presence in American championship racing during the years it intersected with Formula 1.
