About Al Keller
Al Keller, an American driver born in 1920, made five World Championship starts between 1955 and 1959. All of his appearances came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960.
He contested the race in Kurtis Kraft machinery for four consecutive years from 1955 to 1958 before a final appearance in a Kuzma in 1959. Both were prominent American oval-racing chassis builders of the period.
None of his five starts produced championship points, but his sustained run of Indianapolis appearances places him among the more persistent American names in the Formula 1 records of the 1950s.
