About Willy Mairesse
Willy Mairesse, a Belgian driver born in 1928, contested twelve World Championship Grands Prix between 1960 and 1963, most of them at the wheel of a Ferrari.
His debut season with the Scuderia in 1960 brought four points and sixteenth place in the championship — a solid return from a partial campaign. After a year in a Lotus-Climax in 1961 that produced no points, he returned to Ferrari for 1962 and scored three more, taking fourteenth in the standings; his single career podium came during this Ferrari period.
A final Ferrari season in 1963 passed without points, closing a four-year championship career. Mairesse's totals — twelve starts, one podium and seven points — were accumulated almost entirely with Ferrari, and his return to the team across three separate seasons made him a recurring name in the Scuderia's early-1960s line-ups.
