Pastor Maldonado

Pastor Maldonado, a Venezuelan driver born in 1985, competed in Formula 1 from 2011 to 2015, making 96 starts and becoming a Grand Prix winner along the way.

He began with three seasons at Williams. After a difficult rookie year in 2011 that yielded a single point, 2012 proved the high-water mark of his career: he took his only pole position, his only podium and his sole victory, amassing 45 points on the way to fifteenth in the championship. The following season brought a return to the back of the points, with just one point scored.

For 2014 Maldonado moved to Lotus F1, where he spent his final two seasons. Two points in 2014 were followed by a stronger 2015, in which 27 points earned him fourteenth in the standings — his best championship finish — before his Formula 1 career ended at the close of that year.

His final record of one win, one pole, one podium and 76 points from 96 starts describes a career of sharp contrasts: long stretches without reward punctuated by a single season, 2012, in which everything came together.
