About Stefano Modena
Stefano Modena, an Italian driver born in 1963, competed in Formula 1 from 1987 to 1992, making seventy-three starts for four different teams. He debuted with Brabham in 1987, spent 1988 with Euro Brun, then returned to Brabham for two further seasons before moving on to Tyrrell and finally Jordan.
His first points arrived in 1989, when four points placed him eighteenth in the championship, and he added two more with Brabham in 1990. The peak of his career came at Tyrrell in 1991: ten points and eighth place in the drivers' standings, comfortably his best season.
Modena reached the podium twice in his career, a notable achievement given that he never drove for a front-running constructor. His final campaign, with Jordan in 1992, yielded a single point before his Formula 1 career closed.
Seventeen points, two podiums and a top-eight championship finish from six seasons in midfield and back-of-grid machinery summarise a career that peaked sharply in 1991 before fading.
