About Brabham

Brabham was founded by three-time World Champion Jack Brabham and designer Ron Tauranac, and it remains the only team to win a Formula 1 World Championship with a car bearing its founder's name and driven by him. Across three decades the British team was a hotbed of innovation and a regular front-runner.

Jack Brabham won the 1966 drivers' title in his own Repco-powered car, and team-mate Denny Hulme followed in 1967. After Bernie Ecclestone bought the team in 1972, designer Gordon Murray produced a series of inventive machines, including the radical 'fan car' and the championship-winning BT49 and BT52. Nelson Piquet took drivers' titles for Brabham in 1981 and 1983, the latter with the first turbocharged car to win the championship.

The team's fortunes faded later in the 1980s, and after a brief revival it disappeared from the grid in 1992, closing the book on one of the sport's most storied names.
