About David Murray
David Murray, a British driver born in 1909, took part in the first three seasons of the Formula 1 World Championship, making four starts between 1950 and 1952. Already in his forties when the championship began, he drove Maserati machinery in 1950 and 1951 before switching to a Cooper for 1952.
None of his four starts brought championship points, and he went unclassified in each of his three seasons.
Murray belongs to the generation of gentleman privateers who populated the early World Championship grids, entering selected races in customer cars against the dominant works teams of the day.
