Duke Nalon

Duke Nalon was an American driver whose three World Championship starts came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960. Born in 1913, he appeared in three consecutive seasons from 1951 to 1953, driving Kurtis Kraft machinery each time.

The highlight of his championship record is a pole position, a distinction few of the Indianapolis contingent achieved in the Formula 1 record books. He did not convert it into points, however, and went unclassified in the standings in all three of his seasons.

A pole without points is an unusual career line, and it marks Nalon as a driver with genuine single-lap speed whose race results never matched his qualifying form.
