About Mike Nazaruk
Mike Nazaruk was an American driver whose three World Championship starts came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960. Born in 1921, he appeared in the 1951, 1953 and 1954 seasons, driving Kurtis Kraft and Turner machinery.
His debut in 1951 was outstanding: a podium finish and six points, worth ninth place in that year's World Championship standings. He added two more points in 1954 to close his account at eight.
A podium and points in two of three starts give Nazaruk one of the stronger strike rates among the American oval racers whose Indianapolis results appear in the Formula 1 records.
