Alfonso de Portago

Alfonso de Portago, a Spanish driver born in 1928, raced for Ferrari in the World Championship during 1956 and 1957, making six starts in all. He joined the Italian team in his late twenties and made an immediate mark, scoring three points and a podium finish in his debut season to be classified fifteenth in the championship.

The 1957 season added a further point to his account, with a 22nd-place classification. His career totals — four points and one podium from six starts — represent a strong strike rate for the era, when points extended only a few places down the finishing order.

Portago's World Championship record spans just those two seasons with Ferrari, brief but productive by the standards of 1950s grand prix racing.
