Hector Rebaque

Hector Rebaque, a Mexican driver born in 1956, competed in Formula 1 from 1977 to 1981, making 41 starts. He debuted at 21 with Hesketh before moving to Team Lotus machinery for 1978 and 1979; he also ran under his own Rebaque banner during his career, making him one of the era's genuine privateer entrants.

His first point came in 1978, good for 21st in the championship, though 1979 passed without a score. The move to Brabham for 1980 brought another single point and a repeat 21st-place classification.

It was his final season, 1981, that delivered the bulk of his career record: eleven points with Brabham and tenth place in the drivers' championship, comfortably his best year. Of his thirteen career points, all but two came in that closing campaign.

Rebaque's five-season career thus traces a steady climb — from struggling privateer beginnings through midfield Lotus machinery to a competitive works Brabham seat — before his World Championship involvement ended at its highest point.
